Meeting on Separate Telanagana statehood

On
July 9th, a meeting was organized in Savery hall at University of
Washington, Seattle to present and discuss key issues Telangana people are
facing. Meeting also aimed at stressing the need for separate Telangana state
to solve the issues in Telangana.
This meeting hosted the special guests like, ‘Neellu -
Nijaalu’ author and retd. Chief Engineer in CWC, Vidyasagar Rao and Osmania
University professor Harinath. Many NR Telanganites attended the meeting
organized by TDF members Ramesh Bondhi, Suman Bangari, Vikram Garlapati, Ajay
Kasani and others.
While speaking, Vidyasagar Rao elaborated sequence of
decisions that worked against interests of Telangana region. He outlined how
different governments played their role in compromising with Telangana’s
irrigation projects. He explained attendees about how Telangana struggling for
water even though region has 68% of Krishna river catchment area and 76% of
Godavari catchment area. He strongly supported the separate Telangana statehood
with detailed supportive information. Mr. Vidyasagar Rao appreciated the role
TDF playing to solve Issues Telanagna facing and urged for more involvement of
TDF in bringing the Telangana people together and work towards betterment of
Telangana region by achieving Telangana state.
While addressing the gathering, Prof. Harinath explained
how Andhra leaders systematically separated from Madras state and scuttled the
conditions for separate Hyderabad state which led to region’s backwardness. He
elaborated how lack of water utilization in the region, leading to farmers’
deaths, unemployed youth attracting to Naxalism. He strongly insisted that
separate statehood to Telangana solves all these problems.
Earlier TDF members addressed the gathering about how TDF
is working towards helping various sections of people in Telangana region. Its
political, social, charity and network activities have been outlined.
Earlier, ‘Telangana Dhoom Dhaam’ audio and video CDs have been played and Telanganites really
responded well to the musical lectures.
