Dr. Harinath Polasa (Retd. Professor, Political Science, Osmania University)

Prof. Harinath Polasa completed his Masters in Political Science from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1972. From 72-76 he did research on Telangana movement at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi . He taught Political Science at graduate and post graduate level for 30 years.

He was an active participant of 1969 - 70 seperate telengana movement, and was briefly imprisoned during this period. He has a first hand experience and an insiders perspective of the movement. He has wide research experience in fields which include language politics, party politics, electoral politics, political economy. He is also the Founder - Trustee of  "Telengana Information Trust" (TIT) in 1987 which brought out "Maa Telengana" magazine.

Authored "Perspectives on Telangana" which was published  by TIT in 1997. Founder Trustee of "Kaloji Foundation"(2000) and is on the editorial board of its publications. Worked on the WWF (Switzerland) sponsored dialogue project "Efficient Utilisation of Mid Godavari waters" as the projects EC member worked and brought out its two reports on "Tank Irrigation" and "Bore - Well Irrigation". He has taken active part in a series of "Avagahana Sadassulu" across Telangana in the last 6 years. He also served as the Director of two - day National Seminar on "Human Rights". Also participated in several state, national, international seminars /workshops/conferences. He is currently working on a text: "Identity Politics in Telangana".
