Texan Telanganites Celebrates Bathukamma in Dallas: Another Success Story!
The
Dallas Chapter Bathukamma was a huge success with about 30 families
(about 75 people) gathered to celebrate the event. This is the very
first time Dallas Chapter ever celebrated the Bathukamma.
It was a nice cloudy day however ended up little bit windy side on
Sep-16th-2006. Telanganites have started showing up at picnic gathering
around 12:00 noon in Lewisville Park which is located south tip of
Lewisville Lake. It was a great picturesque over looking water, people
boating and water skiing. The wide parks with water and nice cluster of
trees are pretty common to get in Texas however what is interesting is
the elevation of the place we picked over-looking lake waters and
isolated from all of the lake activities. It was so easy for me to
explain my three-and-half years old daughter as to why we celebrate it
in the wild next to trees and water. The place women folks choose to
arrange Bathukamma was in the center of natural wild tall trees. Wow,
it is just like the way we always celebrate our Bathukamma in Telangana
- I heard somebody say that. I turned myself and saw some of our
Telangana parents visiting their kids who attended the celebrations
said that out load. We all enjoyed the day of Bathukamma with the color
of bright flowers, food of our choice and smiles & cheers on each
Telanganite’s face that this is a reality in Dallas, TX that we are
able to pray and perform the Bathukamma with so many Telanganites
showed up for very first time Bathukamma celebrations. There was a nice
Sand-ball court where all Telanganites (gents) played couple of nice
game. Later we all enjoyed our picnic lunch party eating & talking
about the significance of Bathukamma and what it means for an average
Telanganite, our interests and socializing with new friends on this
occasion.
Thanks to TDF initiatives that brought the awareness to nook & corner
of North America and across the globe in all countries and made this
happen.
Although TDF is rapidly spreading in Dallas area and slowly making its
way deep into the surrounding cities like Austin, Houston and San
Antonio, we had a great start at right time. We anticipate it would
grow very big organization in coming months. Based on my statistics we
have about 350+ Telangana families live in and around Dallas/ Forth
Worth area and more than half of them have strong sentiments/
supporting attitude about our Telangana cause and optimistic about
being able to self rule on our land, our resources, our culture, our
identify, our language FOR our Telanganites, BY our Telanganites and TO
the Telanganites.
The Bathukamma celebration in Dallas is the one of the kind and story
about the fellow Telanganites we, the TDF Dallas Chapter organizers,
met just over the short period of time and become so brotherly and feel
at home when we met and talked about our interests, performed our way
of festivity and showed the Dallas metroplex that we are unique and
important part of our community. Most importantly people expressed
their willingness to come out big time and support the cause openly
without any hesitation and showed strong sense of Unity for the cause
of Telangana.
It will be very appropriate to introduce my fellow organizers and worth
mentioning about few families that showed up and made the difference.
