TDF Organizes Seminar on “Problems and Prospects of Palamoor”
Feb 25, 2006

On Feb. 25, 2006, Telangana Development Forum (TDF-USA), Palamoor NRI Forum and Palamoor Intellectual Forum organized a seminar at Jaya Prakash Narayan Engineering College(JPEC) to discuss about irrigation, employment and migration issues in Palamoor.

The following guests spoke about various issues: Shri R. Vidya Sagar Rao, Prof. K. Madhusudan Reddy garu, Shri Penta Reddy garu (Lifting and pumping Engineer), Shri Raghavachary, Prof Ramesh Reddy garu, Shri M. V. Ranga Reddy, K. S. Ravi Kumar (JPEC Chairman) and Ravi Prakash Mayreddy (TDF-USA).

R. Vidya Sagar cautioned that if the proposed Polavaram, Pulichintala, Dummugudem and Pothireddypadu projects are completed, Telangana will be effected very adversely. He appealed to Palamoor people, MLAs and Ministers to stand up and fight for their fair share of projects and water. Water is key to the development and all other sectors development will depend on irrigational facilities. He suggested that if Jurala can be completed with another 40 crores, it can store another 5 TMC water. There is a bigger conspiracy going on under the name of “Jala Yagnam”, to deprive Telangana people from their fair share of water. Both Vidya Sagar Rao and Penta Reddy made power point presentations, showing statistics of injustices and pictures of the incomplete projects.

Muncipal Chairman Obedulla Kotwal, Bar Council member advocate V. Manohar Reddy, TRS leader Niranjan Reddy, Lok Satta state secretary B. Ram Reddy, CPI(M) secretary Kille Gopal, TRS leader Jalajam Sathya Narayana and many others participated in the seminar.

A video made by G-TV on “Palamoor Migration” is screened. Andheshri songs on Telangana were well received by audience.

At the end of the seminar, a citizen’s action committee was formed to take forward the issues discussed in the meeting and represent to public representatives.

We thank the Chairman and staff of JPEC and providing facilities and lunch to the participants.
