Telangana Day in New York/New Jersey
TDF NY/NJ Chapter held successfully its yearly pot-luck picnic second year in a row on Saturday 25, 2004 at Thompson Park, Monroe, NJ. Over 40 Families attended and shared their home made dishes with friends. During the picnic we played Telangana songs to enlighten the struggles of Telangana masses. TDF conducted games for children, women and men and every one enthusiastically participated. The children were divided into age groups of 4-6, 7-10, 11-15 and 16 and above. The games included Running, Musical Chairs, Water Balloon tossing and Tug-of-War. All men cheered enthusiastically the women's Musical Chairs competition, and the Tug-of-War was the real battle between the two sides. Madhu K. Reddy, TDF Coordinator spoke briefly about TDF. He told TDF was formed six years ago to unite Telangana people across America. He talked about newly formed TDF Chapters in 10 major cities and each one will conduct local activates similar to the one we had. He also mentioned that TDF gave an Appeal letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New York asking him to use his leadership in granting a separate Telangana state. Madhu also introduced the NY/NJ City Chapter Coordinators Surender Maddi, Kishore Nyalakonda and Murali Chinthalapani, and TDF Treasurer Karunakar Neravetla. The prizes were distributed by Mr. and Mrs. Mitta Gopal Reddy who were visiting from India. Every one attended said they had good time and will bring their friends next time. TDF NY/NJ is planning to hold a cultural program to celebrate Ugadi in March 2005. |
